What we keep, and why.
SnoViz is a small Colorado snow-alert service. SnoViz is a trade name of Kiratli Ventures LLC, a Colorado limited liability company, and “we” on this page means that company. We collect what we need to send you powder alerts and nothing we would be embarrassed to explain. This page is written in plain English and describes what the app actually does today.

Text messages (SMS)
When you sign up for powder alerts you give us a mobile number and tick a box agreeing to receive texts from the SnoViz Powder Alerts program. This section is specifically about that number and that consent.
Mobile numbers and SMS opt-in data are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not sell, rent, trade or lend your phone number or your text message consent to anyone. The only companies that see your number are the service providers that deliver our texts and host our database, listed below, and they may use it only to do that work for us.
What we record about your consent
To honour your choices and to prove consent was given, the row for your subscription stores: the exact wording you agreed to and its version, the date and time you ticked the box, the IP address the request came from, and the address of the page the form was on. If you later reply STOP or START we record that too, with the time it happened.
How to stop
Reply STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT) to any text and you will be unsubscribed immediately and receive one confirmation message. Reply HELP or INFO for the program name and our support address. Reply START to resubscribe. You can also email dylan@snoviz.com, or use the “Stop all SnoViz messages” link at the bottom of your welcome email, which ends texts and email together. Opting out of texts does not delete your record.
We keep a record of numbers that have opted out so we never text them again. That suppression record is the one thing we keep after you leave.
The signup form also asks for an email address. It is required. When you sign up we send one welcome email confirming what you signed up for; it contains no deals or promotions. We do not send newsletters, powder alerts or partner deals by email, and there is no email marketing list.
We may occasionally email subscribers about SnoViz itself, for example a change to the service, these terms or this policy, or a problem with a subscription. Every such email carries an unsubscribe link, and we never send one to an address that has used it.
How to stop email
Use the “Stop all SnoViz messages” link at the bottom of your welcome email (or of any later email). It works with one click, needs no login, and switches your whole subscription off: no more texts and no more email. Or email dylan@snoviz.com from the address on your subscription and we will do it by hand, usually the same day and within ten business days at most.
What we collect
When you sign up for alerts
- Your mobile number.
- Your email address.
- Your region. Today that is always Colorado: the form shows it as fixed text and every subscriber gets the same statewide alerts. We do not ask for a name, a home town or a street address, and we never collect your live location. Older signups and integrations may have given us a first name; we keep it only to address the alerts you asked for.
- The SMS consent record described above.
When you use the site
- Our servers see your IP address and browser type with every request, as all web servers do. We use the IP address to rate-limit signups, deal claims and inquiry forms, and we keep a one-way hash of it in our signup log for abuse triage.
- Cookies: we set a cookie if you open a private demo link. Staff accounts use a login cookie for the admin area. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
When you contact us or send a partner inquiry
The resort-partner form asks for your name, role, email, phone (optional) and message. We store it and email it to our inbox so we can reply.
How we use it
- To send the powder alerts and the confirmation text you asked for, by text.
- To send the one welcome email, and occasionally to contact you about SnoViz or your subscription, always with an unsubscribe link.
- To decide when to text: on a Colorado powder day you get the evening forecast and the morning recap, and nothing on quiet days. The decision is made for the whole region, not per person.
- To run the service: debugging failed signups, stopping abuse, keeping our Twilio bill sane.
- To tell resort and lodging partners how alerts performed in aggregate, for example how many subscribers were alerted about a storm. Never who they were.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not show third-party ads. We do not sell your phone number or your email address.
Who processes it for us
These companies handle data on our behalf, under their own contracts and privacy terms, only to provide their service to us:
- Twilio delivers our text messages and receives your inbound replies such as STOP and HELP.
- Resend delivers our emails.
- Supabase hosts our database.
- Vercel hosts the website and its server logs.
- Anthropic provides the language model that may rephrase an alert from a fixed set of facts. The facts are snow figures and partner deals for the region; they never include your name, phone number, email or any other contact detail.
Beyond these providers, we share personal information only if the law requires it, or to protect the rights or safety of SnoViz or its users. If SnoViz were ever acquired, subscriber data would transfer with the service and this policy would continue to apply to it, and mobile numbers and SMS consent would still never be used for third-party marketing.
Where the snow data comes from
The snow figures on the site are about mountains, not people. They come from resort snow reports, mountain weather stations and weather models, as described in our Snow Data Policy. No personal data is involved in collecting them.
How long we keep it
- Your subscription, including your email address: until you ask us to delete it.
- Your opt-out record (reply STOP, or the stop-all link): indefinitely, so we never message you again by mistake.
- Signup and send logs: kept for operational troubleshooting; deleted on request.
- Partner inquiries: until the conversation is over and we no longer need them.
Your choices and rights
Email dylan@snoviz.com from the address on your subscription and we will, within a reasonable time and at no charge:
- tell you what we hold about you;
- correct it;
- delete it, keeping only the opt-out record described above;
- stop texts, stop emails, or both.
Colorado residents may have additional rights under the Colorado Privacy Act. Whether or not a law requires it, we will honour the requests above for everyone.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Subscriber records are readable only by our server-side code and signed-in staff; the public site cannot read them. Message logs store masked recipients. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected people promptly if we ever discover a breach involving their data.
Children
SnoViz is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has signed up, email dylan@snoviz.com and we will delete the record.
Changes to this policy
When we change this page we update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your phone number or email, we will tell you by email first.
