Real numbers. Public data. No fluff.
SnoViz pulls live snow data from public weather networks and turns it into something a skier can act on in 5 seconds. Here's exactly where every number on the site comes from.
The same numbers a ski-patroller would check.
For every resort: past 24, 48, and 72 hour snowfall. Forecast snowfall for the next three days. Current base depth. Current temperature, humidity, and wind. That's it. No mystery formula, no gamified score — just the raw measurements plus a snow-quality classification (powder / packed / icy / spring) derived from the same data.
Snowfall measured from mountain mid-summit weather data. Resort-reported totals from official snow stakes may vary slightly. We're working on direct resort integrations for our premium tier.
All public data. No paid APIs you don't see.
Hourly snowfall, snow depth, temperature, and wind for every resort's mid-mountain coordinates. Pulled with elevation=auto so the API uses real ridge-line elevation, not interpolated valley readings.
Federal mountain weather stations. We pull SNWD (depth), WTEQ (snow water equivalent), and SNFL (daily snowfall). Used when OpenMeteo is unavailable.
Live I-70 mountain corridor conditions: chain laws, closures, delays — categorized into the four-state badge in the dashboard.
Some resort conditions blurbs are AI-generated from that resort's live snow data and refreshed hourly — they're labeled 'AI' wherever they appear. Everything else on the site is written by us or pulled straight from the sources above.
What we promise.
- We never sell your phone number or email. Period.
- Alerts are opt-in and threshold-personalized. You won't get spam.
- Every alert SMS includes 'Reply STOP to unsubscribe.'
- Our snow numbers come from public data — you can verify them at noaa.gov, openmeteo.com, or wcc.sc.egov.usda.gov.
- Deals stay live for their advertised window. Resorts manage their own inventory and may close a deal once their allocation is claimed.
- Countdown timers show the deal's real expiration time — nothing else.
