SnoViz gathers snowfall for every Colorado resort and turns it into something a skier can act on in 5 seconds. Here's how we measure, and what we promise.
The same numbers a ski-patroller would check.
For every resort: past 24, 48, and 72 hour snowfall. Forecast snowfall for the next three days. Current base depth. That's it. No mystery formula, no gamified score — just the measurements, each stamped with its report time, plus a snow-quality classification (powder / packed / icy / spring) derived from the same data.
Resort-reported totals come from each resort's own snow report. Where a resort publishes nothing, the figure is labelled a station measurement or a model estimate.

The figures a resort publishes on its own snow-report page, with the time the resort put on them. When a resort reports, that is the number you see.
Automated mountain weather stations near the resort measure snow depth; the overnight change is the new snow. Used when a resort has not reported, and labelled with the station's name.
A weather model estimates what fell and what is coming. Forecasts are always model figures; a past-snow figure is a model estimate only when nothing was measured, and it is labelled so. Road status on the dashboard comes from live state highway data.
Some resort conditions blurbs are AI-generated from that resort's latest snow reading — they're labeled 'AI' wherever they appear. Everything else on the site is written by us or comes straight from the measurements above.
What we promise.
- We never sell your phone number or email. Period.
- Alerts are opt-in and statewide: two texts on a Colorado powder day, nothing on quiet days.
- Every alert SMS includes 'Reply STOP to unsubscribe.'
- Every snow number shows its source type and its report time, so you can judge it for yourself.
- Deals stay live for their advertised window. Resorts manage their own inventory and may close a deal once their allocation is claimed.
- Countdown timers show the deal's real expiration time — nothing else.
